Aims and objectives:
The main objectives of the project are as follows:
- [x] Research different options for sensors measuring NPK levels for soil health. (Target 1)
- [x] Research different microcontrollers, displays for the central hub, radio frequency (RF) modules and machine learning models. (Target 2)
- [x] Design a printed circuit board combining sensors, microcontrollers, RF transceiver and power source together to communicate sensor data. (Target 3)
- [x] Collate sensor data on a central processing hub and design a graphical user interface (GUI) that can take a user input, display data and output information to the farmer clearly. (Target 4)
- [x] Develop methods for analysing the sensor data - use machine learning techniques for pattern recognition to inform the farmer about soil health, quantity of fertiliser to add and whether growing conditions are sufficient for rice crop growth. (Target 5)
- [ ] Test the integrated system and provide a proof of concept of the design. (Target 6)
- [ ] Construct a case/housing for the sensors and central hub. (Target 7)
Stretch Aims and objectives:
- [ ] Construct a fully working prototype of the system (Stretch Target 1)
- [x] Connect the system to Wi-Fi to receive more external data such as weather data for improved machine learning. (Stretch Target 2)
- [x] Gather data from multiple sensors, such as temperature, humidity and moisture levels, and build an online database to store information from multiple sensor hubs. (Stretch Target 3)
- [x] Develop an App for the product (Stretch Target 4)
